I am 32 years old Marianne Ketelimäki and I live in Vantaa, Finland. I spent my childhood and most of my adulthood in Järvenpää. I was 9 years old when my sister took me with her to Orimattila to her friend's stables. The stables is called the Vironmäen Ponitalli, and there I got seriously bitten by the horse-fly when I got ro ride a few rounds around the pen with a Finnhorse called Raikuliina. She seemed to be so big. Soon after that I had to get to the stables again, and I got to ride a whole hour on a furry Shetland called Rindi, whose foal Rebekka II was bouncing and prancing around us.

I spent many riding -holiday weeks there during the years both at summers and winter holidays. Often there was the same, fun company. I'm still in touch with some of them. I'm also in touch with the current owner Sanna Vironmäki and I also keep their web-pages.

After my sister moved, we found our way to Raija Tyyni's Tuhkimon Talli in Jalasjärvi. The first time we went to look at bunnies, but were excited to find a bunch of horses at Raija's. Tuhkimon Talli became familiar also with riding holidays and riding lessons during the years. We also bought our first pony together with my sister from Raija. He was a New Forest stallion C's Nelson, and we bought him in the spring of 2001. I sold my share of him for my sister at the end of 2003. Afterwards Nelson has changed owner a few times and nowadays he's a sports pony.

We are still friends with Raija Tyyni and I keep the web-pages of both her stables and her chihuahua-kennel.

I live with my boyfriend and a dwarf lop bunny called Veeti.

My most important and dearest "job" is of course photographing. I got my first camera about the same time when horses came into my life. My first camera must have been the simplest camera in the world, lacking all sorts of functions. I did take plenty of horse-photos with it, and at home I photographed all sorts of arrays.

I got really enthusiasted about photographing when I bought my first digital camera Canon PowerShot A30. Nowadays even the smallest and humblest cameras have better properties, but it was a good practising tool for the two years I used it.

When the limits of the camera became serious, and I wanted to better myself as a photographer as well as to take better pics, it was time to buy a new camera in the beginning of 2005. I pondered a long time between a DLSR and a "almost a DLSR" and decided to buy the latter. I knew that an expensive camera does not guarantee good quality pics, and I was afraid of biting more I can chew with a DLSR. My new tool of trade was again Canon, model being Canon PowerShot Pro1. The difference between the former camera was huge, and I began to take besides horse pictures, also pics of flowers, plants and other details with the camera's macro proerty.

But as the hunger grows while eating and skills are developing, one wants to learn more and demands more of one's self and one's pictures. The properties of Pro1 were not enough, so I finally bought a DLSR in the beginning of 2007. As I still trust Canon's quality, I bought myself the EOS 400D. I have had it for almost two years now, but changing objectives is even more quick-paced! Even now I'm dreaming of a lens with higher maximum aperture.

You'll find more info about my photographing tools at the Information -page.

I travel photographing also outside Finland. I go to Denmark at least once a year, and Ireland has also been a top favourite destination for years.

The most important ones of my other hobbies are making web-pages and collecting Stud Books of horses. I have been making web-pages both for myself and my clients since 1999, and you can find more info about it at Ponyla.net.

As I began to spend time with horses, I got interested in their pedigrees. At the stables I just had to collect the info and pedigrees of every horse. At home I collected pedigrees from horse magazines into notebooks, and soon others who collected and exchange pedigrees came into the picture. At first I collected the pedigrees of all horses, but in some point I had to specialize, and so finally I was olny interested in ponies.

When only pedigrees were not enough, I had to begin to buy Stud Books and the copies of registration papers. My shelves and tables were bursting with books and maps! As I moved away from home and onwards to Vantaa after work, there was not much time for exchanging. Nowadays you can find pedigrees in the Internet, so I decided to give away my collection.

But the books stayed. Collecting them still goes on. At the moment I do not have a current list of them int he net, but I intend to make one. In my collection I have over 50 North Swedish Horse Sud books, about ten Stud Books of Gotlands Russ and some Fjord Horse Stud Books. My most priced treasures are the Friesian Horse Stallion Books, which were not cheap at all. Also the first published North Swedish Horse Stud Book, published in 1909, is one of the most valuable pearls of my collection.

I add both pictures and pedigrees to Sukuposti, so I am able to use my both hobbies to the benefit and enjoyment of others too.

My other hobbies are reading, drawing and travelling. My bookshelf at home is beginning to burst, since of course I have to buy myself all the good books! I use my drawings and pictures as motives in my webshop called Marianne's Art Shop.
